The guru says to check the knee area of any BJJ gi that you buy. The knee area absorbs alot of abuse during each roll from people tugging on your pants, to rubbing it on the mat when you are passing guard.
When you buy a gi, you need to check for reinforcement in this area. Look for heavy stitching and extra, highly durable cloth.
